Guest House Jovchevata Kashta

The guest house Jovchevata Kashta is almost 250 years old and entirely renovated in the Bulgarian Revival style holiday house. The proximity of the house to the bank of the merrily murmuring Kilajka river deepens the feeling of peace and romance and offers pleasant conditions for freshness, sun-bathing, fishing and picnics in the hot summer days.

The house has 2 floors and a local heating system. On the first floor there are 2 kitchens, dining room, tavern with a hearth only for the guests in the house – warm and cozy in the cold winter days and cool in the hot days of the summer, bathroom and a toilet. On the second floor there are 4 cozy rooms with 2 or 3 beds, furnished in the traditional Revival style, which can be combined in 2 separate apartments with WC, TV and an antique hearth. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and predisposing to a happy, peaceful and quiet recreation away from the grayness and tension of the city. There are also 1 single room for resting with TV, satellite system and many games, During the stay of the guests in the guest house “Jovcheva kashta” they have to their disposal TV-set with VCR and DVD and a music stereo in the tavern, full kitchen equipment in the kitchen, refrigerator, washing machine, bathtub in one of the rooms, telephone, local heating.

In the yard there is a summer kitchen with barbeque, hearth and an oven. There are also: small house for children, little swimming pool, cradles, slides, basket and balls for basketball, volleyball and soccer, secured parking lot and covered parking with 3 places.

There are ethnographic exhibition in the house, where are gathered restored traditional farm, handcraft and trade equipment and the hosts can tell you some interesting facts about it. You can also try some specific activities like: teasing and carding wool, weaving and, why not – milking and cooking traditional meals.
The hosts – Maya and Alexander Jovchevi are very hospitable but at the same time – very discreet, so that the guests can fill calm, confident and safe. For those guests who like a fun and amusement there is a folk-stile tavern with wide-open doors. There you can taste delicious traditional meals like “Elenski but”/made from dried ham/, singed bread, salad from fresh vegetables with cheese, buffalo milk, yoghourt and cheese – straight from the hosts’ farm. In the winter you’ll be warmed by home-made wine and brandy, prepared by special and unique recipes.

Because of the crystal fresh air and calmness, even after a very hard day or evening you will wake up early in the morning clear-headed and rested. But even if you like to sleep – you’ll be surprised at the morning with a tasty mekitsa /batter fried in deep oil/ with buffalo or goat milk and cheese and home-made jam or mountain honey.

Here you can also practice shooting with an air-gun, with a bow, mountain-cycling, horse-riding, skiing, sledging, fishing etc.
